Exactly. This is what bothers me more than the fact that they made it and called it what they did - it’s that Jalops would be crawling over each other’s heads to get one if they called it what it is, which is a sport wagon. But there’s such a phobia here of the words “crossover” and “SUV” that we’ve all convinced

I like the I-Pace a lot. I also like the Mach-E.

I don’t think that’s true at all. A lot of people, including me, would be ecstatic to have a proper two-door Mustang with an electric drivetrain.

Most of it was new. There were only a few minor parts carried over.

A lot of builds use a Toyota MR2 power steering pump, which is electric.

All right, I really can’t argue with you there.

It does look pretty sweet in black.

Edit: alright, so I’m gonna have to backpedal a bit here. Ford said “SUV” a bunch of times during the reveal.

Sigh. Let me say this louder for the people in the back.

I can comfortably conclude that you’re trying as hard as you possibly can to hate it because Ford calls it a “crossover”, which seems to be a four-letter word around here.

The body is different, but the underpinnings are the same. Generations are defined by the platform, not the styling.

I have a theory about why this is. These are among the cheapest Mustangs you can get right now. They’re hitting the bottom of the Craigslist barrel, and you can get a running one for under 2 grand.

Thank you! Every time a Mustang shooting-brake render gets posted, people (including me) drool over it and pray to the car gods for a production version. The fact that there’s so much hate directed at the Mach-E really shows what a strange phobia of crossovers this community has.

I’m with you there. I’m sure I would get used to the screen after a while, but I do like being able to operate stuff by touch without looking at it.

People are complaining about the Mach E styling, but not this? Seriously?

Close. Not an alternator - what you need is a DC-DC converter, which steps down the big battery voltage (usually 400v) to 12v and charges a 12v accessory battery.

Leaf batteries are OK, but Chevy Volt batteries are better quality and slightly cheaper.

Leaf motors are increasingly popular for conversions. You can get them very cheap, and Thunderstruck Motors sells a VCU that makes them plug-and-play with the stock Leaf inverter.

Even if the guy is really tall, it’s still a fairly low car. Looks about the size of a Leaf.
