This is cool, but charging isn’t nearly as much of a deal-breaker as a lot of people who don’t own an EV seem to think it would be. It only becomes an issue when you try to take a really long road trip.

This. Anti-EV trolls like V10omous love to imagine that we sit in a chair next to the car for 6 hours, but that’s just not how it works. You plug it in and go do something else (usually sleep, in my case). It’s more convenient than gas.

“more powerful, efficient, reliable, and inexpensive than they have ever been”

Okay, one fire. Still a lot less than Tesla (and a heck of a lot less than any gas car).

I’ll begrudgingly admit that this is true (although the 93mph top speed is electronically limited - I’ve had mine up to about 87mph and it was still accelerating nicely before I backed off the juice).

Isn’t the A3 E-Tron a hybrid, not full electric?

“Relatively regularly” still being far less often than a gas car. Everyone makes a big stink about Tesla fires, but they forget that gas fires are so commplace that they don’t even make the news.

I took that to mean it’s being recalled for the possibility of battery fires. No fires have actually occurred yet, but Audi thinks they will if the problem isn’t fixed.

I think it can be safely said that Audi is royally fucking up the task of building and selling an electric car.

Yes. FINALLY. It’s happened at last: An automotive question about which I have absolutely no preference for one answer over the other.

Well, that was an article about nothing.

I do like this short little truck, but I hope the Bronco isn’t as wide and tall as the F-150, which is now easily bigger than the F-250 was ten years ago (I’m not gonna bother looking up the actual dimensions, but seeing them on the road, I’ve noticed that the F-150 has bulked up enormously in the last few years).

Hmmm...they spent all this time and money building an ultra-efficient car that gets the same mileage as a Prius from 15 years ago?

This is my main reason for not getting a Miata. Everyone hypes them up so much, and I’d love to drive one for a day, but I’m too concerned with safety to daily a car that’s basically invisible to tall vehicles.

I think I’d care, but I’m also in the camp of keeping a car forever rather than selling it (maybe I haven’t owned enough cars yet).

“Mudding isn’t stupid!”

Sorry, bad take. Mudding is the worst kind of off-roading for most of the reasons you tried to use as justification for it being the “best”. It takes a huge toll on the vehicle, it makes a big mess, and you can’t do it at your own speed.

Me the first time I heard this (many years ago): Eww, I like country but this is too country even for me.

Fair enough. He’s just so damn annoying to watch (and listen to).

Now playing

Fair enough, but Lucas Black is intolerable to watch in it (for me at least) and his character is a huge douchebag. The racing is fine, but there are other movies that will allow me to watch fast cars doing fast car things without having to endure this:
