I totally agree! But TBH, I have a lot of desis friends who get pissed off as all hell when this happens- one even got irked when my white sister-in-law wore desis clothes to my wedding— clothes that my very brown mother gave her with a ton of love.

Full disclosure, I’m Pakistani American who has lived in Pakistan. I don’t really have, personally speaking, any issue with non-desis (google “desi” if you don’t know what it means) wearing desi clothes. It is irksome though when the West decides something is “cool” and popularizes something that you’ve been wearing…

Agree. And screw the classism being displayed here. My mom worked in a factory for 35 years and she’s smart AF. She’s an immigrant and was a biology teacher back in the day but she was never not proud of her job- it was good and honest work.
