But the show agrees with you... it turns out that Mandalorians *don’t* hide their faces forever and have these weird rituals. Only a minority cult do. And I don’t think Boba Fett has any connection to that kind of Mandalorian.

“The show has two modes: fetch quest and “save a village.””
Some of us like episodic Westerns
I will say — having not played the games, I was expecting this backstory to be muuuuuuuuch worse than what we saw. It was still rough, but really only out of a sense of angst knowing how it was going to end.
By wonky, do you mean “based on actual scientific evidence?” because this is one thing the show gets right.
Common anti-fungals are used only topically for surface infections. There are very, very few anti-fungal medications available today that are effective on internal fungal infections because the biology of human cells is much more similar to fungi than that of bacteria. Due to this, it’s very difficult to find…
Aww I was hoping Anna Torv would last a little longer at least. Though it was obvious it was coming. I haven’t played the games so I’m going in cold. Though it makes me wish AVC was doing what they did with GOT and having a book reader/game player review, and a non reader/player review. I don’t want y’all fools…
Doesn’t seem to be much circling tables excessively and doubling back on empty shelves in case they come across random screws or pills. Starting to doubt their commitment to the source material.
Bravo to Christine Hakim for making, in a brief role, Dr. Ratna a compelling, dignified character with an inner life. The way she even protested her being picked up by the cops told us something about her.
I liked how the scene in Jakarta was actually scripted in Indonesian. I could actually follow some of the dialog as I’ve studied the language a bit.
I honestly think I liked that more than the premiere. It showed that they can do more than just adapt the cutscenes and are able to take the actual gameplay loop and make it compelling to watch. The premiere was really good, but outside of the cold open (which please let every episode have some kind of pre-outbreak…
Came to say this. Dalton was the bright spot for me. Great casting choice for “the one that got away.”
I disagree a little. I thought this episode was very romantic and bittersweet and did a great job at driving home just how much collateral damage comes from being Sovereign. I thought Timothy Dalton was an inspired choice for old Captain Townshend. He remains effortlessly charming. So good to see him!
Yeah. There wasn't state funerals for people like Eden or Wilson when they kicked the bucket. I almost feel like they are going too fast. I mean they skipped a great deal of the Beatles, pretty much no mention of Swinging London or the Moors Murders to my disappointment, at least that I noticed. Is it too much to…
That was my immediate thought. In November 1963, The Beatles appeared at the annual Royal Variety Performance (Margaret and the Queen Mother attended, though the Queen, who was pregnant at the time, missed it). This was where John Lennon introduced Twist & Shout by saying “For our last number, I’d like to ask your…
Just watched the whole 10 hours and the most curious disappointment is that there’s there’s NO ‘60s British pop music represented, not even in background scoring. NO BEATLES?? Okay, maybe budgets prevented paying for Beatles licensing? How about Petula Clark or the Dave Clark Five? Margaret famously socialized with…
Thank you for your review. I didn’t dislike the Blunt subplot as much — he was confirmed as a spy just before the period covered in the episode (in this respect, the fault you mention lies with not inserting Blunt into one of the first two seasons), and I thought Morgan did a great job of contrasting the impotency…
It was sad to see the end of Churchill after his health declined enormously.
Samuel West played Anthony Blunt in Cambridge Spies back in 2003. What a very specific bit of type-casting.
Caroline I completely agree with your review but I would have been far harsher. I was not prepared for three historically significant issues of the 1960s to be given so little attention. The death of Churchill proved a global event, his state funeral proved Britain’s most recognized observations for a non-royal of the…
