I thought 'You were spying on me' 'Yes, and I feel just awful about it'' was the best line of the night. Well, that and 'Yeah, Mister White's gay for me!''. It was nice to see her cut through his bullshit so easily and for us to see how she's repeating the pattern of crossing a certain moral line, and then deciding to

I really wish Kristen Bell/her agent would find better movies for her to star in. She's so good in Veronica Mars (plus those episodes of Deadwood). I can't think of another actress so frequently relegated to awful movies who is as potentially good as she is.

This is set in Connecticut right? Where the legal age of consent is 16, unless one is in a position of power or something, over the other… is she in this film? His swimming instructor or something?! Apparently an athletic coach or supervisor would be enough to tip it over into technically illegal teritory.

I bingewatched season 1-2 a few years ago but think I remember.

I love Spaced, but I fail to see how this 'shits on it's legacy'? Since when does a director's new film have to adhere to the 'legacy' on a TV show he made over a decade ago? They're separate entities and should be treated as such, Wright et al shouldn't be expected to keep making the same thing again and again.

Agreed. I think the writers have needed to lean on Deb a lot more as the series has gone on, because they aren't brave enough to actually develop or change Dexter significantly.

Basic Instinct is amazing. As is Showgirls.

Didn't it only take like a few hours for Nora to die from HepV earlier in the season? I don't really understand how we can have hordes of diseased zombie vampires who are able to sort of, organise/team up and be this much of a threat. Surely everyone affected would just die first?

I don't know, I kind of liked it. Highlight of the episode.

I like Deb/ Carpenter but regardless she is, by process of elimination, DEFINITELY the show's best developed character. She's the only one with a story arc which (almost) makes sense from the beginning of the series to this point. Even Dexter's doesn't, since there's been so much reverting to the status quo and

Stopped watching this part way through the second season… still astounds me it's nominated for Emmys and the like, do our pretty houses and costumes blind Americans that much?!

Gotta love the characterisation of Julian Sands' character.

The thing is, it wasn't Voyager, it was Deep Space Nine. The fact the writers clearly know that makes me extra impressed at the geekiness on display.

If they're just going to have him be all depressed and guilty then I'm happy with the reduced screentime. I don't need to see him go through that for the third time, and will be happy for him to pop up again when his storyline becomes more interesting.

Thematically yes, but I think the narrative in TDK's case is way too overstuffed for a single film to really achieve what it sets out to do. Lots of situations felt too contrived for me to believe that the characters weren't just doing what they did in order for Nolan to make a specific point - I understand WHY Harvey

Very interesting comment. I do find their similarities really interesting (their practicalness, as you say, but also their ability to manipulate and lie)

Yes. I really like Skyler and think Anna Gunn puts in a fantastic performance, but Carmela was definitely more defined and developed. But part of that is the more ensemble nature of the Sopranos, which is less about Tony than Breaking Bad is about Walt, I'd argue. And that it's more character than plot driven - I feel

I gave up on The Shield towards the end of season 4 but to complain of characters in Breaking Bad not being fleshed out, or too one-note, or that there are too few decent female characters, and still be a big fan of that show… no words. I'd take Skyler over Vic any day of the week,

That happened with The Dark Knight for me. Even now it seems to be the only superhero film above criticism.

It's not that all criticism of her = sexism, more that lots of the criticism seems to come from that place, based on what lots of fans write about her.
