The big question I have is: who records a 13-year-old mouthing racist shit, and who —ten years later— releases a video of a 13-year-old doing stupid racist shit. I have no idea what stupid shit I did when I was a stupid shit.... but I am sure at least some of it was messed up.

Or, we just realize that we are not now who we were when we were 13/14

So, in your mind if someone says something racist then they are racist forever.

She apologized.

Are you conveniently forgetting that this was also a time where one’s summer job could pay college tuition and a high school graduate could own a house and support a family of four?

I also have a bone to pick with this section:

You’re absolutely right. I’m against ageism and generation-ism 99% of the time, but Boomers DID fuck everything up. That is a cold, hard fact.

Yeah I’m not gonna judge something someone said when they were 13, because I’d be a huge hypocrite. I said some really dumb crap at that age too

Unfortunately, your generation is exactly what caused people to have to do that. They took all the good jobs, refused to leave them, advocated that anyone after them go get a degree to be proven worthy of a better life while simultaneously raising tuition costs, thereby requiring loans we couldn’t possibly afford,

Exactly.

We never imagined that anyone would want to do that job full-time in order to raise a family.”

Highlighted the problem there for you.

Right? I remember going online for the first time as a 13 year old and writing the most dumb immature things because that’s what a 13 year old is. Thankfully it was long enough ago that when those sites shut down the data was gone for good and not in some permanent cloud archive. As a society, we gotta evolve the

As much as it pains me to do it because I think Eilish’s schtick is ridiculous (the whole “I did a Vogue cover but don’t sexualize my body” thing is stupid) ...

So do we accept Billie’s apology or not? Just wondering who else is going to get raked over the coals for stupid stuff they did as a kid.

She didn’t use a racial slur; Tyler, the Creator did.

I have no issues with that. A lot of straight men get off thinking about two women together, but that doesn’t seem to be a threat to female friendships.

I’m guessing it’s Bryan Singer.

Is that you Kevin? Or his PR crony?

“Johnny” = incorrect. “Jonny” = correct.

*To Rafibomb*: Maybe so, but at least with the old Kinja, I would be able to access your comment and respond. Now, I can only even read a section of it.

This seems like an odd article for you to be writing this comment about. According to the article, it’s a perfect example of a game that eventually saw “through its own ignorance”. The author is very specifically celebrating how the series evolved over time not only to wholly embrace his identity, but actively
