I was gonna say I do like seeing how they subvert some of the nods.

You know since the beginning of the season I've been very sure Dodd's last words were going to be something like, "something something mongrel half-breed".
That's kind of how I feel sometimes too. I also agree that these references could have other uses, or it could at least be argued that they have other uses.
Haha, everyone seems to think the law can just arrest people indefinitely on suspicion of just "being involved in organized crime, maybe".
I don't know how to feel about the Coen nods. Part of me likes them, part of me understands the criticism. Anyway, things did go pretty crazy down there at that lake.
He's also had to deal with racism a whole hell of a lot, and he's clearly an intelligent man who does a whole lot to avoid being a stereotype.
I don't get the "borrowed" opinion myself either. I'm pretty sure most people would be pretty goddamn worried if they knew they were being marched to their death like that.
She was basically passed between abusers and ultimately killed by a member of her family she probably respected and trusted more than say, her asshole father, so yeah it was fucked the hell up.
Gonna be clear I'm only saying this because in order for the boss featured in S1 to be Mike he would have to have undergone some serious plastic surgery. Because they don't look, dress, or even act alike.
I'm also kind of used to Coen stuff being pretty surreal and unrealistic myself. I remember the tommy gun scene in Miller's Crossing was kind of glaring to anyone that's ever seen automatic weapons actually be fired.
See I just don't see where it's a bit too much, but then again I don't really watch TV and point out what is and isn't real because then it's not any fun at all.
Honestly the mannerisms of the crime boss in S1 make me think Bear is the most likely candidate.
Okay, so, are you saying that Mike
I've gotta be clear, I'm actually unsure if they do use placebos for life saving medication.
Uh, I'm pretty sure it's a breach of ethics to not tell everyone that an undisclosed control group is receiving a placebo for a test.
Yeah, that's what I think he means.
I love Mike's surprise popout shooty contraption so much. It's so nifty.
I thought of 3 myself.
I also wouldn't want it to suddenly feel like Minnesotized Boardwalk Empire.
Feel the same. I like this vibe and I liked S1. I'm sure prohibition era Fargo would be interesting but I always felt that the more modern settings kind of helped me relate to characters more myself.
