    They’re not so bad. We had one for a while before we traded it in on a newer MDX. It got the job done, always started and drove pretty nice on the highway. It was easier to drive around town than it looked like it was going to be. Nothing special really, but proper reliable transportation at least.

    The strangest thing about metric fasteners on American cars is that they use the odd numbers. My Hondas and Subarus could be completely torn down with 10mm, 12mm, 14mm wrenches. My Cadillac uses 9mm, 11mm, 13mm, 15mm; it’s maddening. 

    This is cool and all, definitely one of the best Mustangs, but 390 hp and 390 tq out of a blown motor isn’t superman stuff even in 2003. The 2004 CTS-V did 400/400 without a blower, using the same engine from a Z06 that happened to be in production in 2003. . . 

    I commented the same, 20 min after you. It’s important on my Raptor especially for parking garages. If I hear the whip scrape, I toss it in park and stick my head out the sunroof to check. 

    They’re also quite good at alerting you to when you’re approaching overhead clearance limitations. Like in parking garages. 

    RTFM. or the back of the gas door. Put the octane in that the manufacturer recommends. The burban absolutely needs nothing more than 87. Maybe 89 if you’re towing in the desert, but doubtful even then. The Mazda should have a manual you should dust off and read. Your husband shouldn’t be giving you advice on cars. It

    Nothing about this 7-8 year old car is attractive enough to pay almost 20k.

    These are seriously nice riding cars. The stick is a bonus. If you need a cheap commuter you could really do a lot worse. -NP

    I only own Tesla. No other automotive stock. No airline stock. Just tech, finance, and well known brands and service providers. I’m not particularly clever so buy and hold.

    I really want to like this one but just not at that price. 

    My Heep Grand Cherokee WJ had around 175k on it when I sold it I think. Somewhere around 160k when I bought it. I had to rebuild the driver’s seat foam, most of the suspension rubber, O2 sensors and replaced the shocks. It ran pretty well and I sold it for what I paid for it. 

    DC-DC convertors aren’t lossless. That would drain the main battery if it was operating when the car sits idle. 

    I can fill up my Monkey with the lawnmower gas can. That’ll get me 150 miles, which if I was going to the office, would suffice for two months. The 20 gallons in my truck would keep the monkey going for a couple of years if I need to. . . 

    I daily a Raptor. My wife’s 2012 MDX feels like a freaking hot-hatch to me, in size and response. Especially with the magnetic suspension in ‘sport’ mode. It’s all relative. When I daily’d my CTS-V, the thing felt like a hippo. Now I drive a rhino. 

    I have one on my Raptor just for the whooshy patooie turbo noises. Even though the Ford ‘quiet cab’ doesn’t let you hear it with the windows up. . . 

    You’re right about that. The interior in my V1 is shameful even for 2005. I mean, I like the seats but even they are ugly. The rest of the inside is, well, let’s just say I’m super glad it’s so much fun to drive. Otherwise it’s a penalty box. 

    This thing is scrap. I’m not in the scrap business even if the parts are worth the money. ND.
