8-4 Eastern is 5-1 Pacific. Also Standard 8 hr workday includes an hour lunch, so CA schedules usually look like 8-5, not 8-4

I assumed the normal time zone divisions would work.

How about this?

We set midday and midnight as fixed points throughout the whole year.
12pm is halfway through the day, and 12am is halfway through the night. That’s it.
4am in winter is darker than 4am in summer.. why don’t we just deal with it instead of messing up our sleep twice a year?
