The wild west actually seems like a perfect fantasy starting point - especially a romanticized version of it. I don’t imagine many of the guests will experience trying to out live a freezing winter while the kids die from tuberculosis. But if the Westworld park just allows all the high perks of the wild west without

As narratively compelling as it is to have this whole thing take place in meatspace with physical androids, wouldn’t this all be much more sustainable in some sort of VR?

To answer the question about why the Wild West - in the original story, there are references to other parks as well, notably Classic Roman and Medieval... I think that’s right.

We met a mom, dad, and kid who stumbled on Dolores painting those horses by the river. The kid got the rare pleasure of feeding a wild horse out of the palm of his hand. That was a pretty exciting non-violent, non-sexual encounter.

Are you suggesting that, since it has been struck down, it has become more powerful than anyone can imagine?

Honestly, though, with all the unique monsters and mechanics, I wonder why this wasn’t renamed and made into an original game inspired by Pokemon. Just strip it of the copyrighted stuff and it’s golden.

Can’t imagine how you haven’t heard much about it, though it has only been out for a few days. Netflix has indeed put a lot into this show, and people on every website I go to have been raving about it (myself included). It’s a supremely good series that’s worth the attention and praise.

I don't know if it's a fact, but I know I loved it. Watched the entire season over the weekend. I'm eagerly awaiting news of a season 2.

You haven’t been paying much attention then. People have been binge watching & raving about it since it came out at midnight on the 15th.

You know, if this was any other Dev i’d have given this vaporware status.
But in CDPR we trust. They earned the credit.
So i’ll wait patiently.

You mean the developer that’s released a couple games now set in a world in which women (the sorceresses and messianic Ciri) are the most powerful beings alive?

The cutscene that scene is from does give more context though

Post “Bad Guys Won” is one of my favorite story settings. Really looking forward to this.

Maxis was doing pretty decent with both Sim City and The Sims, it wasn't in dire straights.

You are my favorite commenter on Kotaku.

I worked as a designer for Westwood Studios (back then Westwood Associates). It was a sad day when EA purchased Westwood. But some of the designers stayed in Las Vegas and formed Petroglyph Games.

The treatment of these tiny studios underneath major publishers is abhorrent. Workers being given crazy hours and no overtime pay, bonuses being withheld, and studios being shut down even after successful products are shipped. The entire industry seems highly Unethical. If ONLY there existed a group whose main

EA with a purchased studio is like "Jojo the idiot circus boy with a pretty new pet."
