People were being super rude about her tears. Losing is disappointing, especially in something that matters so much to you. I’ll never fault someone for how they react.

I wrestled for 10 years, including two at the college level. Wrestling is so draining and mentally fatiguing, it is not uncommon for people to lose it like that, both winning and losing. Top on some Japanese culture, never losing in the Olympics, and you get that picture.

Don't forget Dominique Dawes. She was the first African-American to win a gold medal in gymnastics and one of only three gymnasts to compete in three Olympics...Barcelone 1992 (bronze), Atlanta 1996(gold) and Sydney 2000 (bronze). She also had one of the best nicknames...Awesome Dawesome!

i understand fans questioning her place on the team and especially her getting to compete from the all around over laurie - but that’s not on gabby. the internet hate has been next level.

I’m just kind of sad for her. (Not very, she has another gold medal this year.) I’ve never once interpreted her attitude as bratty, but she works her face off at her sport and when things didn’t go as she’d hoped, I’d bet it’s crazy hard to watch others do it. She does seem bummed most of the time.
