Very true. It was used against me as a slur quite often in my youth ( before I understood why or what it even meant ) so I personally have a rough relationship with the word. Someone in the LGBTQ community refering to me as queer would be ok, though maybe not preferred,  but someone outside it would not.

I hate to say it, but I’m not holding out much hope and that has me scared. If discrimination based on sex stereotypes is overturned ( which is a big part of how they are arguing this) it will have consequences for everyone, LGBTQ or not.

This article was wonderfully written. If he chooses to forgive her for his own benefit, that's fine. No one else has to and the state absolutely cannot and should not.
