There are parallels, but I don’t believe that Mr. Norm did full-blown engine swaps like Yenko did. What they were renowned for was tuning the cars to actually deliver what they promised, and selling high performance and racing parts. So a combination tuner shop and something like Lingenfelter Performance Engineering

Sigh. Stupid kinja. https://www.hemmings.com/stories/article/mr-norm-kraus

This car is garbage. But you really should read up on Mr. Norm. He is far from “some random person” and is a legend in the world of muscle cars.

Now that is legit. Love it.

Automatic? CP all day long.

They sold over 900,000 cars that ,according to Jalopnik, nobody wants last year. Incredible. Imagine if they made a product that actually appealed to buyers…

Maybe a Big Kahuna Burger. Now that is a tasty burger!

“If you can read this in French, I’ll bet you can’t get this baby on two wheels”

As a matter of fact they would. Who exactly is going to deal with those people if not the employees? I worked at Disneyland many moons ago, and was required to be in the union, and remarkably there were still terrible people in the world and a much larger number of good decent people that were a joy to serve.

I’m missing the part of the story where unionization stops the customers from being assholes.

Red Alert is the perfect name for a Virtual Boy game…

Amazing story and a poignant reminder of why we need to treat people as people not as memes or enemies. Well written David, thank you for taking the time to interview his daughter and the group admin. Bravo!

It used to be not a big deal to import a foreign car. And then Mercedes USA led the charge to change the laws here because people were importing vastly cheaper gray market mercs spec’d out in ways you couldn’t get here. (Manual transmission, cloth seats).

Seriously this list is hot garbage. The Model 3 made electric cars cool and affordable. The Model T? At one point it had market share of FIFTY PERCENT. The most important car in automotive history. Anyone who bags on the three series or the WRX has never driven one, particularly the e30 generation for the BMW. A few

THIS. Land development and asphalt are expensive. Permits and moving dirt (and environmental fees and inspections and and and) costs way more money than people realize. And then actually laying down blacktop is crazy expensive. The $500k talked about in this article would cover a 500 space parking lot, assuming you

Fascinating. The idea of something like these cubes sounds awesome to me, but I can see how 45 minutes is too long. 20 minutes would be about right to use the restroom, drink a cup of coffee and stretch your legs. I’m not saying staying longer wouldn’t be bad, but I can see how being stuck for another 25 minutes would

2022 has the potential to be awesome. The budget cap means that one team can’t simply spend their way into a championship (not that this always works, see Toyota) and so we have a better chance of the cars being closer together in development. Added to that the sliding scale for wind tunnel testing (providing more

The problem is how do you properly reimburse a full Grand Prix’s worth of people who deserve to be reimbursed for Sunday.

Good point, and thus an unproven device with a lot of unanswered questions isn’t going anywhere for a 5% savings.

That link said fuel savings were 5% for the voyage. That’s a big step down from the 35% claim but still worth looking at when you spend millions a year on fuel. Real world costs must be too high to justify it.
