This (spy stuff, not water realism) reminds me of one thing that drove me nuts in The Americans. The show went out of its way to establish that Philip and Elizabeth are so deep undercover that they’re not even supposed to know each other’s real Russian names, just in case they ever slip up.

She did know he might be the KH:

I can’t help but think that he landed on Gaiman mainly by free-associating from the movie title. If they’d called it “Starman”, would he have been calling for John Carpenter to take a crack at it?

To my mind the obvious touchpoints are Dexter and Gone Girl. It’s (enjoyable) trash, but it also uses the psychopath lens to explore issues of gender and relationships in a heightened way.

I’m pretty sure you need to bring out new content regularly to get buzz and add new subscribers, as well as keep people coming back. Otherwise you’re just competing with the DVD collection at the library.

On the other hand...

A tourist visiting Canada and the US might say the same thing. (And really, the name of the currency is irrelevant to this issue; it wouldn’t make any difference if the countries called their currencies Rigsdaler, Speciedaler and Schilling.)

They don’t. (I would also suggest that this is in no way a “problem”, any more than the US and Canada having different dollars.)

I also assumed he would play Gurney. He’d have been a great fit for the role.

The two have claimed various finds over the years – four, if I remember correctly: some papers Brian only looked at years after his father’s death, a bunch of boxes discovered in a garage, a bank box with notes and research for Dune 7, and finally a couple of computer disks with an outline for same.

ALos, while it may be an unfamiliar position for Americans, compare the portrayal of Swedish blondes in so many movies, for example the busload of swimsuit models in Dumb and Dumber.

Good on the Russos for juggling that many characters fairly successfully, but it is a whole movie of chasing glowing rocks before arriving at a foregone conclusion that sets up a sequel we know will just undo it (or most of it, anyway). Not really an interesting story in any way.

I lobbied a group of friends to go see this, and was severely disappointed. Striking a blow for representation is great, but apart from that I don’t see how this film has anything going for it at all.

I’d bump up Iron Man 3, Ant-Man and Captain America, and bump down Doctor Strange, Age of Ultron, Infinity War, Homecoming and maybe Iron Man. Otherwise I mostly agree!

I'm definitely gonna ask for your help next time I have to update my CV.

I’m not familiar with Lenny Bruce’s work; is the material Luke Kirby is doing taken from his real act? It feels rather more period-authentic than Midge’s stuff (in that it includes a bunch of references that go over my head, while her jokes seem primarly tailored to today’s audience, “slutty secretary” stereotypes

Criss-cross!

I feel no need whatsoever to see this, but I watched the live-action Cinderella, and I think it’s a considerable improvement on Disney’s cartoon version (even though I have a soft spot for the singing mice).

We don’t actually know that this film will precisely recreate the original, and personally I rather doubt it. We only know that the trailer echoes a number of shots from the original, probably as a kind of homage. For the film, I would expect something roughly like Beauty & The Beast, which sticks pretty close to the
