here’s how this past week has gone for fans of Atlanta-based/adjacent sports teams: the Braves were utterly obliterated in Game 5 of their NLDS series against the Cardinals, the Georgia Bulldogs choked at home in overtime against unranked South Carolina, and now this. Fucking hell, that’s depressing.

If The Athletic wants a less-obvious way to prevent people from commenting they should just switch to Kinja.

I find it pretty despicable that Deadspin would have the nerve to point out The Athletic’s censorship in this scenario. It was only a month ago on this very site that I tried to comment on my fantasy football team only to find comments were closed. But sure, The Athletic is the asshole.

every publication can (and frankly should) moderate its comments to keep out bigots and trolls, if only as a courtesy to readers.

It’s startling to think that someone who has faced such adversity and personal anguish for simply wanting to be “out” as the person she truly is could become this much of an out-of-touch moron. But I guess money does things to your brain.

You know what’s worse than this “negative culture” that Tom Brady describes? The avoidance, denial, and lack of accountability culture which speaks in generalities, “whataboutisms”, and vague platitudes when asked about specific issues.
