It’s not a tone argument, it’s a critique of strategy. Breaking windows might be the best option in some cases, just seems like it wasn’t for this one. The guy lost his job and didn’t even get Yale to take responsibility for causing him pain. Maybe the window is gone and that’s all he wanted and he’s satisfied. I

This guy works there for 9 years and suddenly he gets the idea to smash it? He’s got an awfully slow burning fuse for Yale “rubbing his nose in it”.

I get that. I do. I just hate the implied idea that this poor minority needs help because he cant help himself. And I get that is part of my own projecting.

This is my genuine question. Are we supposed to remove all depictions of slavery from artwork? Isn’t that whitewashing? I really disagree with the idea that the window should have been removed (this is our history and we need to be reminded), but I especially disagree with how this guy decided to handle it and with

I’m wondering that too. If it’s the context of straight up showing U.S. history and that yeah, it was built on the back of slave labor, I don’t have a problem with the window. As history like that shouldn’t be erased because it allows people to gloss over the existence of slavery in the first place.

So, Yale was supposed to just remove all references to slavery? Then what? That makes it all better? Or does it remove the horror of slavery from peoples consciousness allowing society to think that maybe it wasn’t so bad and we should try it again?

No! It's akin to book burning honestly... The window should have been taken down and put in a museum at this point...but I don't go around smashing ancient Egyptian panels or ripping out pages from text books depicting Jews as slaves just because it upsets me...

He is getting his job back. Thats great and unheard of. I am happy for him and Yale. Somewhat condescending, sure, but its a job as my dad says. What do you expect? Christ, this is real life.

“If he really wants to support a grass roots progressive movement...supporting long shot congressional candidates with millions of dollars is high on the list of stupid things to do.

Oh right and minimum wage probaly doesn’t need to be raised either right. Sorry for offending a white person sorry he’s fine with his dishwashing job and won’t cause you anymore problems

Because he’s a dishwasher and not a CEO?
