I love Sam Smith’s voice!

So if I mix the sounds of a mating screech owl with some EDM,you don’t want to hear it? (laughs)

It doesn’t sound shrill to me at all. When I think shrill I think Mariah Carey’s dolphin screams.  This sounds somewhat gritty and not at all what I was expecting with all the shrill talk. I don’t listen to a lot of new music to be honest, I am a classic rock and folk music kind of girl and my female singer tastes…

The theme of the song is about distinguishing the real from illusion, so having her voice sound gritty works. If her voice were more polished, it would totally contradict the point she’s making.

I had to go find a Sia song because I don’t think I’ve ever actually heard anything she’s done. It just made me want to listen to Tori Amos. :) So I did.

I can’t say I’m a fan of either, but I’ll take Gaga over Grande any day! Grande’s sound is way too saccharine for my taste.

Taylor Swift is the equivalent of your boyfriend’s younger sister whipping out her guitar at Christmas and wanting to show you the song she’s been practicing ad nauseam for the last month.
