FYI, Amy, Metzger’s long history of attacking women online isn’t “trolling.” It’s harassment.

Where did I say that? I said she sucks and that she’s irresponsible, but she can respond however she likes.

I used to be a fan of Schumer. I found her smart and funny, and admired her hustle game. My love dimmed when I followed her on social media. (Note: this only leads to broken hearts.) I saw how her responses to thoughtful criticism were thin-skinned at best, and childish and petty at worst, but I brushed it off. Like

You’ve seen his racist Tweets too, right? Schumer just said this in an interview:

Nobody’s saying she’s at fault for his actions. They’re criticizing her because she knew he was harassing women for years and still kept him on her show. She’s allowed to block, people are allowed to scrutinize her. It’s a two-way street.

Word. It’s depressing how long Kurt has been getting away with this. I assumed it would go on as long as he was game.

Saying she sucks isn’t asking her to answer for his behavior. There are people in this discussion board who think she’s above criticism. I don’t. Nor do I see her as the victim in this situation. That’s all.

Outrage implies that people Metzger harassed were in a position of power. They weren’t. For the past few years, they were not only targetted by him and his comedian friends, but many of his followers. People didn’t reach out to Comedy Central and Schumer because they were looking for someone to blame. It was a last

I can’t speak for others but I don’t think she’s responsible. I just think she and Comedy Central suck for keeping him on her show after people complained about him harassing women. According to Kurt she has hiring power, but maybe he’s full of it.

“They aren’t currently filming so he isn’t currently employed by her.”

I’d agree with you had she not blocked people Metzger harassed. For example, Sady Doyle in 2013, when he came after her hard. It’s not a case of “He said, she said.” It’s documented online for anyone to see.

But some of the people she’s blocked/dismissed weren’t trying to start trouble, or publicly shame her. They wanted Metzger to stop, and hoped a public platform would bring in attention and support. What more could they do? Articles were written, nothing came of it.

No, not obligated. But it goes both ways. What makes her exempt from criticism? For years, she’s handled the situation like an irresponsible jerk. People are calling her on it.

Except when Metzger was harassing women and being a shitbird online, he wasn’t a former employee. As I said, this has been going on for a very long time. She’s perfectly within her rights to block whomever she pleases. Just as I’m within my rights to call her an irresponsible asshole for dismissing people’s concerns.

I am. If somebody Tweeted that my coworker was harassing women, bragging about choking his exes, and claiming he was “untouchable” because he worked with me at my company, then blocking them would be irresponsible to say the least.

Metzger’s writing has been a big part of Schumer’s show, and, by proxy, helped shape her brand of feminism. He’s won an Emmy for writing and acted in a few skits. She isn’t his keeper, but people are well within their rights to question why a comedian who purports female empowerment has a guy on her show who harasses

He’s been harassing women online for five years, that I know of.

I feel like I’m in Bizarroland reading these comments. Metzger has a long and sordid history of harassing women. Many of us have been watching his insanity play out online in real time for years, and know that he’s a psychopath. He’s not only admitted to choking an ex-girlfriend, he brags about it.
