I’m late to this post but wanted to chime in with the others saying it’s great that you recognize this is a deal-breaker and are gearing up to leave now. I stayed in relationships too long with stable partners who could not give me emotional intimacy. It was devastating to leave them because the relationships were

That’s similar for me. I started it in November and the helpfulness of it keeps increasing. At first it was reprocessing traumatic memories so they don’t bother me anymore. Now I also work on how I react to current things so that events/relationships that either confuse or scare me don’t hold me back as much.

Same. My partner got pulled over in a traffic violation and the cop came right up to my passenger window, 18 inches from my face, with no mask.

As part of a project I worked on, I interviewed dozens of people who dealt with abusive managers. Many had PTSD symptoms and dealt with the fallout for years after leaving their jobs. I hope you can get away from that person soon and that your therapy helps.

Exactly, you can see just by looking at the black woman’s face (eyebrows), that she is reacting to the white woman misreading the t-shirt’s intent!

I didn’t read the book, but enjoyed these posts a lot! I hope you’ll do another book club.

We can’t finish this workshop without discussing the humor and realism in Emily’s entry.

Yep. Nearly every manager I’ve had stopped engaging their staff with kindness and empathy as they were promoted into executive positions, and instead treated people like assets that exist to prop up their careers. They lost touch with their humanity.

I used to work in an organization led by someone like this. Staff were either on the good list, the bad list, or completely ignored (because they weren’t useful or annoying enough to go on the other lists). It was hellish. Everyone enabled his behavior because he used all his power to make or break our careers.

When other countries’ core governments snatch people off the street and assault peaceful protesters, the US condemns these acts as human rights violations. And now our own federal government’s squads are throwing our own citizens into unmarked vans and taking up arms against us. It is hard to believe what our nation

Kelly, I feel for you and wish there was a solution on the horizon. But I have little hope for progress because men still have so much power to veto better access and subsidies for childcare. And in my own life, I know exactly zero men who want anything to change because they benefit from the status quo while their

I used to watch men wandering around the halls at work after 5 or 6 p.m.for no other reason than they were avoiding their families.

At the corporation where I used to work, it was so executives could live out their rock-star fantasies with an audience of underlings who were forced to listen to them.

At my 10 year reunion everyone seemed to be sizing each other up to see who was more or less successful. I was one of the few unmarried people and felt judged.

This reads like the pilot episode for a new Netflix show. 5 stars!

Great article! And good for the Bellas for taking charge of their careers past the Divas. They deserve their WWE Hall of Fame credit.

You know who is suspiciously NOT showing up? All those militia types, who have as their stated reason for existing, being armed and ready to fight if the federal government oversteps its bounds and starts being tyrannical.

I laughed so hard at ordering Star Wars and getting the bible! I’ve also been watching Adam Driver fandom tik toks all day, so this feels relevant.

That is rough. I’m very sorry and hope you’ll have comfort and support to help wade through this.
