Nope, Light Sport Aircraft require a 20-hour-training Sport Pilot license from the FAA. You’re thinking of Ultralights (FAR.103 aircraft).

The “sport” part have nothing to do with performance and everything to do with the license required: a “Sport Pilot” license that requires only 20 hours of training and no medical. Now for some this might not be an issue if they’re responsible and have a lot of sim time. Also the planes you can fly under this rule…
