“Carol the waitress, Simon the fag”

At first I was like, “What is offensive about this?” But then I thought about if snapchat had a blackface filter and she posted “INSTA-BLACK PERSON,” and told myself to shut the fuck up.

I took it as she was making fun of the silliness of these stupid filters.

He was in the movie.

Also:

I wonder if she typed something else at first like “InstaDude” and thought, “no, that’s insensitive to trans men, I should just say ‘InstaTransGender’ instead so they feel recognized”? Allies make mistakes. We all do.

That’s where my mind went too!

Ironic gif. Wasn’t he a mad assclown in that movie?

It’s funny because transgender people are funny, didn’t you know that? Ha ha ha. Funny. Ha.

My initial thought was, “Well, some ideas should be left unexpressed.” But, thinking on it further, perhaps this will be a learning experience for her. Not only in understanding why this tweet is offensive but also in learning that being a comedic actress does not make you inherently funny.

Especially since that particular look and context could be applied to an infinite number of Smokey and The Bandit jokes.

It’s exhausting being outraged all the time, and constantly letting perfect be the enemy of good.

If this is a joke, I’m missing the point entirely. What’s funny about it? Where’s the punchline? Did she think using this filter alone would have people finding it hilarious?

anyone else just...really tired,
