I’ll take a stab at answering this seriously. I wouldn’t go so far as to say that the season was all fan service, but I think I can distinguish fan service from natural narrative progression. To be clear, I definitely agree that narratives have to, you know, get somewhere eventually, and I personally am so fucking

Stories ending is fan service and not at all in line with what G.R.R.M imagined.

This redesign of AV Club was illogical, dumb, and not fun whatsoever.

So GRRM gives them the outline that includes the major memories Sean mentions above that he will remember for years and they all have to take place in this season.

Illogical and dumb, just like switching from Disqus to Kinja.

Oh, you want HTML script to work, huh? Just wait, you’ll figure out the formatting tools feature is way better. You won’t even want to use HTML script anymore. And if you do, well, you’re stupid and you’re wrong and it’s sure not Kinja’s problem. KINJA!

I’ll say it: This new design is a festering shitpile from which neither hope, nor information can escape.

NOBODY LIKES YOU, KINJA. DEAL WITH IT.

(Wait, what is with the incessant amount of all-caps I’ve been using since we switched to Kinja?)

OMG this; a thousand times this. It’s all just one ever-growing thread. I bet there’s no way to so much as look up a particular TV show to read its reviews. Forget about being able to see Newswire entries in its own separate area. Eesh.

They replaced a functioning website, with a blog.

Yes, I was all focused on the new commenting system coming up and didn’t realize the whole site would look exactly like other Gizmodo sites (but of course it would). I miss the TV Club page and search screen where I could look for TV shows. But maybe it’s here somewhere. I don’t know.

I appreciate you patting my head and telling me it’s going to be okay, AVClub, but we both know that’s a dirty lie. Look around you!

Yeah, I expected them to fuck up the comments...but the site layout is fucking unreadable trash.

It’s almost as if the broken link is a metaphor...we can never go back, can we?

That’s all well and good, but this new site design is hot fucking garbage, and not in a fun way.

I feel it’s more like someone took a library, threw out the card catalog, and then just laid all the books and magazines in a long row in the order they were added instead of grouped by any sort of category.

They went from a really simple list of TV reviews listed on the main page to, ‘hey, hopefully you catch it when we post it.’

Now playing

Who designed the homepage? There’s no simple line for the eye to follow, nor is there an accessible list of recent articles. It’s like someone said, “Let’s just throw the content into a basic Kinja template. I’m hungry.”
Like a real-life Love Day:

The new format hides reviews. This is a really shitty platform if you want the visitor to find anything other than the 3 most recent columns
