As a (now) Memphian, I was also thrown by ‘local’. I take your point - the team is close - but Memphis and Nashville are historically more of a rivalry, and I don’t think I know a single Titans fan in this city....

People in Memphis don’t tend to cheer for the Titans, people in Nashville don’t tend to cheer for the Grizzlies, and people in Knoxville are ambivalent about both. Tennessee is not Wisconsin.
