The opponent he ran against, Col. Moe Davis “Retired Colonel, U.S. Air Force; Former Chief Prosecutor at Guantanamo (resigned over Bush torture program); Retired Judge, U.S. Department of Labor” seemed like a nice guy. Probably too nice, because he should have had a team backing him that could have dragged up this

He sounds like a dude that grew up learning from the internet that to be a man you need to be an alpha and he learned 'how to be an alpha' from porn and bad movies

Nothing more comforting than a scientific complex named after the head of the Roman Catholic Church. Seems legit.

Why am I not surprised the guy who looks like every predatory college student on Law and Order SVU did these things?

I aggressively avoid political discussions with my friends. For many years it was easy, until 2016 I did not know where my best friend stood politically. But since Trump it has gotten much harder. They can turn any conversation into a political rant now. I just tune out, but it still means our conversations are less

A medal? Are you kidding me?!

I was driving to work one morning when a woman ran a red light and hit me on the front passenger side at about 50 MPH. I miraculously came out of the accident unscathed - the EMS personnel who showed up looked at me and looked at my car and then looked back at me and asked “You walked out of that?” and shook his head.

I had a trumper friend. It would be so weird. She’d start railing on and on about some political issue and I’d correct her. She’d look it up, realize I was right, and change her opinion... but it never lasted. Like, the NEXT day, she’d be right back at the exact same point, as though going to sleep was a a hard rest

I’ve ditched a few friends. Most of them were religious people (Catholics, specifically) who made being anti-choice their primary personality trait. Some of them also revealed how fervently anti-LGBTQ+ they were, which both surprised and disappointed me, but I’m glad I know that’s who they are now, I guess.

I’ve had to suss out people’s political beliefs and then just avoid the topic to maintain hobby-based friendships. If the other person doesn’t agree to just not fucking talk about it, I bail.

Ah yes Tucker Carlson, the voice of the working class..

There’s two parts to it. People used to argue about “politics”, but they were often arguing about actual issues. Now it’s not just left vs. right, but we’re arguing about bullshit instead of real issues.

Why hasn’t this happened like yesterday??

There is no professional diversity in our politics, like in some countries where people from different sectors of the private and public sector go into office. We end up with mostly lawyers taking office. It always amazes me we trust so many lawyers with: disaster management, public health policy, infrastructure,

I know. COVID, a virus which is statistically more deadly for old, overweight men, had ONE JOB and yet here we still are with the pathogen that just won’t go away.

Some of those smarts went toward self-preservation, which is why they never ran for office.

Smart people don’t have a chance in hell in the GOP.

I keep thinking he’ll be in jail by 2024.

Unless Satan himself runs I’m pretty much expecting this to be what we get.

As it has been said: Fear the rise of the competent Trump.
