Came here to say black cotillions are a big deal too in some places.

Very familiar with it, I too am old ;)

Did not know that. Not terribly familiar with the Hamptons. I’ve know Elizabeths who went by Libby instead of the more common Liz or Beth. But Lili is nice too.

“...Hell-residing war criminal Ronald Reagan’s death...”

A nickname is often unique to an individual. It seems odd that they named their kid with the queen’s. I wonder if Harry ran it by Gran first. I’d have gone with Elizabeth Diana and called her Libby.

When I was a kid in central NJ in the 70s the stuff in the picture was sold by truck and cart vendors as Italian ice. My favorite flavors were cherry and lemon. In the 90s I was living in a Philly suburb when Rita’s appeared as water ice. I’ve also had the rock hard stuff in cups sold as Italian ice.

Displayed like this, it looks more Victorian than 1981. I wonder if that was intentional?

Meringue is the perfect adjective for the dress. It was the style of the day.

But somehow it suited a 20 year old princess bride back in 1981.

These women should have done their homework before they snagged a deal on Trivago. Kimpton Hotels cater to sophisticated upscale travelers who don’t care if two black women are kissing in the pool. Marriott branded properties are probably more their speed, but I guess they wanted to be cool.

I remember sneaking Heath bars out of the refrigerator when I’d babysit for a friend of my mother’s back in the 70s. It was my first experience with them and they were sublime. That was before Hershey bought the company and ruined them.

Another day, another Trump grift.

It’s the misfortune of many Texans that Cruz did.

That a woman would even have to consider that today is beyond comprehension.

Or stays and tries to make it a better place for all women.

It’s hard to be a blogger with a vocabulary as limited as his.

They weren’t one of my preferred junk cakes, but they tasted much better in the 70s than they do now, total chemical taste. I can remember the feeling of a Devil Dog stuck to the roof of my mouth. When I was eating them they were made with actual sugar. HFCS ruined many things.

And I love your name.

Forgot about Ring Dings, I ate plenty of those too. I loved the peanut butter filled Funny Bones, and peeling and unrolling Yodels. Ah the good old days.

I grew up in NJ on Drake’s “cakes” - Devil Dogs, Funny Bones, Yodels. And Hostess Twinkies and Fruit Pies. They were delicious back then and my cash- strapped mother of four loaded up on them at the local outlet stores. Is it any wonder I am a sugar addict? But the last time I had a Twinkie, nearly twenty years ago,
