My dad just about had a heart attack when I got my ears pierced. My mom considered herself quite modern for letting me do it. I remember coming home and showing my dad, and he was PISSED. They had a big fight about it, believe it or not. I was probably in 4th grade or so, but that was considered “too adult” as well.
