As always, sportswriters feel like they have the right to “punish” players who wouldn’t play by their rules. What’s also ironic is that TO gave all these voters so much free material to write columns about his entire career, and now they are punishing him for it.
The only rationale I could think of for a separate women’s division is that it would seek to address disparity in access to clubs, tournaments, etc., which probably are run mostly by men and consist of mostly men.
