All the shock and handwringing over this over the past couple of days has made it perfectly clear that the entertainment pundit class has no black friends. Because this was....not surprising at all.

Most people did not care about the Slap.

The absolute worst homophobic abuse I suffered in school was from someone who came out 4 years later (and then somehow expected us to be pals). You'd hope that holding it in would make people empathetic, but it doesn't always work that way.

Not to mention there were a myriad of other ways to deal with being closeted that didn’t involve hurting people. Lots of gay people struggle to come out, but not all of them do horrific things in the process. That’s what makes this guy unique. Coming to terms with who he is doesn’t absolve the need for accountability

As the parent of an autistic child, I have learned ( the hard way ) that there are two types of people who work with special children, angels in disguise as humans, and sadistic bullies. Not a lot of in-betweeners in that realm.

Could be triggering. Mine is rape.

I recommend the unhealthy thing to do - make a phone gmail account and send him an email outlining all the things you know about him. Ask him what he has to say for himself.  More healthy is to simply write him a letter saying everything you want to say about it and then tear it up.

I found out that a guy who bullied me in high school is a vice principal at a small town middle school. I considered it his penance. It was also 20 years after high school that I found out. Eight years might have felt too fresh to be convinced that he had some great insight into his behavior and made a life change,

Yeah you report it. If the school’s had a history of these complaints current students it’s the sort of thing that could jostle the apple cart enough to tip the whole thing over.

When I was ten years old, I overheard a family friend, who was 18 years old, sexualize my body. To this day, he doesn’t know I know what he did. He went on to work for a European Prime Minister. I tell everyone what he did when his name comes up.

I’m someone who has gone to a school district over a similar issue with a former bully, and I wholeheartedly disagree with all of this advice except the volunteering bit.

Ugh, this reminds me of an old boss I had who was the biggest a-hole and bully, who is not only fucking successful, but flourishing. Lots of awards and recognition for being a top person in their field. I hate those people.

Could be worse, your school tormentor could be someone now internationally known in their field and in the news a lot because of it meaning you have to be constantly reminded of the many years they made your life shit and that it’ll never even become a footnote in any telling of their life story...

This is right out of Mothership Law & Order. Anybody remember that episode? It was on last night on the Sundance channel.

He’s lucky all she’s doing is suing. I would probably be doing time for a murder charge.

All I can say is - what a massive creep. It’s so weirdly violating.

Genealogy kits are bad for a number of reasons. Among many reasons, “ancestry” presents itself differently in each person, the kit companies can use your information however they want, you can be diagnosed as a carrier of a genetic mutation without the proper guidance as to how it presents in you/your offspring, and

I just don’t know that a judge or jury is gonna find monetary damages this long after the fact.

They’re bad news because they allowed this woman to find out that she’d been lied to and violated by the doctor?

Another reason why genealogy kits are bad news.
