Not endorsing fentanyl or selling dope to pregnant women but the “school zone” thing is so, so stupid. It implies that the children attending the school are somehow being placed at risk, which is insane logic.

Sure, a bartender who keeps serving an obviously impaired person could in theory be held liable for the consequences, however with booze it isn’t always so cut & dried. The tricky thing regarding cannabis is that it remains in the body in perceptible amounts long after its effects have worn off. In theory you can smoke yourself stupid on Saturday, wake up on Sunday as sober as a deacon, take a drive, kill someone, test positive and forever be labeled as a “drugged driver”.

This. it MIGHT kill you if, for example, you have other pre-existing conditions like a bad heart or something but opiate withdrawl alone won’t kill you. Some say fentanyl withdrawls are especially vicious particularly on the mental end but it’s not normally fatal.

Agreed, IMO there’s a difference between hooking someone up with a dose and deliberately misrepresenting a super-dangerous compound as being something else. Counterfeit pill makers and those adding fentanyl-type analogues to street drugs deserve to face the consequences of their actions.

Right now the “heroin” problem in this country has taken an even grimmer turn with the sudden rise of fentanyl and fentanyl analouges that are cropping up everywhere all at once. Fentanyl is going to make every other recent drug panic look like a walk on the beach. The stuff is everywhere, it’s being mixed into heroin…
