Did you care for the seats? What were you doing to take care of them? Leather feels fantastic, but is much higher maintenance than cloth. I usually do a clean/condition regimen at least once every two months. The leather seats in my 8 year-old car looks as good as new. No shiny surfaces, no cracks, and no creases.
