Instead of gold I suggest 1 ounce silver coins as gifts for kids. They look cool and come in all kinds of subjects like nature, fantasy, and pop culture. Plus they won’t end up in a landfill. Last year I bought coins with dragons, anime, and Bart Simpson. I get them on eBay for about $40-45 each.
