That was Chris Chows GN. The motor was from an NHRA drag pickup. You may remember that was a thing for a while in the 90s, with a separate class for them. twin turbo small block. Over 1000 rwhp, and ran low 8s. I think he ended up crashing it. Very cool car though. Back half was essentially stock, including suspension

Depends on the model. I had a 98 Jetta 2.0 5-speed. Sold it with 220k and original clutch and struts. Had done 2 timing belt changes on it, (90k and 180k) everything else normal diy service.  Only sold it because it spit out a spark plug out of the #4 cylinder and didn’t feel like dealing with swapping the head.

They just need to add a big fart can exhaust to the Honda. They’re good for adding another 150hp on a F1 engine I would think.

In the early/mid 80s here in NJ I had a summer gig as a parts driver for an import parts dealer. One of his regular clients was a holein the wall shop in a back alley that worked on exotics. I got to sit in a then new 512BB if only to prove i couldn’t fit in it. In the back corner one day I spied a 427 Cobra body

I came to this old thread about the best sounding v-8 and not one of you mofo’s posted Jimmy White’s 31 Ford coupe with the 392 Hemi. Get your asses on youtube search hemi rat rod and get some knowledge

Appropos of nothing, back around circa 1910-1915, my grandfather was a chaffeur/mechanic for a millionaire in NY state who had him design and build a large circular garage with a large powered carsized turntable in the middle. You drove the car(s) in through the main garage door, then rotated the car on the turntable

You omitted talking about BRMs 1967 effort, the star crossed 3.0 liter H-16. Fiercely complicated, tricky to tune and unreliable, it was never a contender, being too heavy to boot. But it sounded nice :). It normally aspirated and only made about 420 HP by comparison.

I’m from NJ, but have been to Ybor City on a couple of occasions about 15 years back. When I first read the story I was like ‘Thats nuts!”, then I saw it was in Ybor City, and I thought “OK...that makes sense”.

Shortly after I had my first child (many ears ago), I apparently lost my mind and determined I needed a 4 door family car. Through some lengthy family induced stupor, I somehow wound up in possession of a used 80s Mercury Topaz. What a horrid, sad little car. Shaped like a jelly bean, flat punishing seats and the
