I do a fair amount of AV contracting work and often have to make messes. When I don't have a portable vacuum, I generally fold some copy paper (or larger if they have it) in half and tape it to the wall just before the floor. A Post-It seems too small to catch drywall mess.

@Robert Anhalt: I am aware of this. Trillian 5 Beta just released about a week or so ago. Go try it!

@theotherwhiteboy: Yeah it looks pretty cool. I haven't been a fan of Samsung phones for a long time now. My last was the SCH-A530. What a awesome little phone that was. I tethered that sucker (for free) for some good old 1xRTT Internet. It was small, and built like a rock.

@silvermoonstar3: Yea, well I get my Sprint credit in November. I'll see what's around then. In any case, I really want my next phone to be 4G. It's here in Wilmington, DE and I have it on my U301 mobile broadband card. It's fast.

Wow.. another reason for me to consider Android for my next phone. I'm a Windows Mobile fan, but no one is developing for it anymore. Perhaps Windows Phone 7 will reignite this. Trillian 5 for Windows is pretty awesome so far. They've come a long way since v0.

In short, yes... multiple monitors increases productivity. However, this depends on a lot besides just having two monitors.

Any cell phone usage without a handsfree device is now illegal in NJ and some cities in DE. I don't text and drive ever really.

I posted this on Lifehacker, but I just recently picked up a Logitech Illuminated Keyboard. It's absolutely stunning. You can get it for a relatively good price if you coupon shop.

@jerfmayne: I've used several of their optical cables. It was part number 2764. They work fantastic for me. I've used them for ADAT audio and haven't had any problem. In fact, they snap into place far better than many cables 10X the cost.

I did this for Flickr a couple years ago. I still have the same backpack. The contents are mostly the same, but do change from time to time. I work in pro-AV, so that's were some of the stuff comes into play.

If you have roommates that are the type to forget or are otherwise not very responsible, what makes you think they are going to check on a web app and keep it up to date?

@raikire: Nice! And no restocking fees...

I think I was using Netscape Navigator at the time... programming websites with Microsoft Frontpage (and extensions!). I also used Image Composer. I loved that program.

@agies: I'm pretty picky when it comes to what is running in the background on my system. I regularly check my running processes for things I don't recognize. There are often things there, but upon investigation, they are usually sidekick processes to things I installed. Yes, I know many hijacks disguise themselves as

Am I the only one that can't stand running anti-virus/malware and firewall applications? I just don't. I've never gotten a trojan, virus, or hijack on any of my computers.

MonoPrice is excellent. I've purchased and used hundreds of their cables and haven't had a single failure yet. When one does go bad (it's bound to happen), I know I'm in good hands.

"..inserting a light build.."

@Tony Bullard Jr: I don't use them daily. Only when I have data entry type things, which isn't very often.
