HOw DARE you!!!!!!!
I think I let those stereotypes bother me more than they should because I used to believe in many of them before I met my husband. Military service is not the right thing for me, but now that I’ve lived in that environment I have a better understanding of why people choose that road. Most are just regular people who…
You know, I usually don’t like to throw around the “I’m a military wife” card but there are a lot of misunderstandings in this thread.
Yes! Vindication! When I was a child, my mother rented a room in our house to an older woman who INSISTED that hand-washing was far more Eco-friendly than using our dishwasher. That woman took it upon herself to “teach” me how to wash dishes (in fairness, I was 8, and it wasn't a huge priority for me at that age). I…
Ah yes, why bother to take the time to develop one’s own sense of style when you can BUY overpriced, tacky crap from celebrities out-of-touch with the “authenticity” they are trying so desperately to commodity?
I know :( I don’t know why these things always upset me so much but the idea of a mangy, sick dog being systematically tortured (while most likely seeking food or human interaction) makes me get into angry-cry mode.
I feel your pain! I also work in a rural, high poverty district. Due to geographic limitations (located in a rural, heavily forested valley in the northwest) our region cannot even sustain school gardens or greenhouses. The only way such a program could work is if the school could figure out a way to serve pine cones…
Thank you for that response. I think a big part of the problem is that “GMO” is a terribly broad term anyway. I mean, at this point you can point to seedless watermelons, tangelos, bananas, etc. as GMOs because they’ve been genetically “modified" to produce fruits with desirable traits.
She said that they had enough guests that were poor enough show up that didn’t have any dentures at all. So, the Maury show has a tiny morsel of decency and wants to make sure guests look presentable when they go on the show. My friend sometimes had to take people on shopping trips to get clothes that were decent for…
Just gonna put this here: I have a friend who worked for the Maury show as a production assistant several years ago.
I’m legitimately curious . . . what kind of government initiatives could (hypothetically) be implemented that would strike the core anti-vaxxer community hard enough to change their behaviors?
I hear you. I am also going through an excruciatingly drawn-out divorce. 5 years of marriage and I finally found out he never wants to have children. This is a huge deal breaker to me, but it also doesn’t help that he’s been incredibly depressed, with no friends, no hobbies other than video games, and no ambitions or…
I’m going to need to read the whole article, but I have a hunch this doesn’t always hold true once you start looking at rural communities.
But see, you’re a reasonable human being that appears to understand that the mere act of hearing another pray invalidates your personal beliefs.
A similar thing happened in Idaho earlier this year when a Hindu priest gave a prayer at a legislative session. A big chunk of the representatives chose not to attend, because somehow hearing a person of another religion utter a prayer makes you a bad Christian.
Another diarrhea story, unfortunately:
Speaking as someone who works closely with many regional guidance counselors, much of their duties are unfortunately the “busywork” that schools don’t want to bother with; creating class schedules, dealing with transfer students, listening to preteens cry about mean girls, training staff, ensuring student schedules…
