You have 4 tries (downs) to move the ball forward 10 yards. If you succeed, you get 4 more tries to do it all over again. Repeat until you get the ball to the end of the field and score a touchdown, or fail and give the ball to the other team so they can try.

The problem with the prequels wasn’t the branching out, it was them making Darth Vader into an annoying brat for 3 movies. Jar Jar Binks, senate meetings, bad writing and an actor so bad at playing young Darth Vader that the animated version of him in the Clone Wars was more relatable and human.

Honestly, I would absolutely love a full on comedic Tag and Bink film. I would pay so much money to see that one.

Let’s also remember that Lucas tried to get other people to direct the Prequel trilogy. No one wanted to take on the task of possibly screwing up Star Wars. Considering how Lucas has been treated, they were absolutely justified in their fears.
