Only to be assassinated and usurped by Tatiana Maslany. Who had been honing her abilities in a Russian prison.

Everyone does that though…. Right?
Quiz Show is so damn underappreciated
I think given the right role she doesn't falter. Cordelia is a perfect example. But there are too many better known actresses who can do what she is great at better and bring in more money. indie movies of some sort would be the way to go for her for a bit.
That movie was a step up from the big Hollywood film it was inspired by so at least she has the moral high ground of BDSM/abuse fiction.
My friend liked the show a lot for a while and considers her the best actor from it (probably more to do with HMC as a person than anything), but I found the show barely tolerable. The acting of everyone grated on me.
Great, now I have to watch the episodes she appears in. The things you do for people you like. Damn it Carpenter.
It was a good year, but i suppose hindsight is 20/20,. The latter two are pretty much footnotes of 1994 films while Priscilla has an enduring legacy that prompts many special screenings every year.
I haven't actually but it sounds interesting.
This is true. I did a bad job of explaining my position. I just think the film needed to build up that moment more effectively, but despite not having that her choice wasn't shocking.
Stamp wasn't nominated?! Wow. That sucks.
I took issue with that too. But I think it had more to with being forced into staying married to a man she didn't love. The film handles it in a swifter manner than it perhaps should have but thinking about it now I can see it.
Intellectually, no there isn't anything new to say, the personal risk of being anything other than straight in the 50s is pretty well known. But creating an emotionally engaging and explicitly gay romance that is set in that time is very important. It recontextualises the story to be viewed through an emotional lens…
I generally find Blanchett to be good (but I also get why some don't take to her), but Rooney Mara was the MVP of the film for me.
I think I can forgive it when the trans character is pre-hormones, but I find it to be a tougher pill to swallow when they are mid or fully transitioned. I commend Sense8 and OITNB a lot for it's casting of trans actors in trans roles. TV in general seems to be more up on this than film.
Odds on the sequel saying something along the lines of: "the second part of the Oscar nominated film…"?
I'd guess trashy going by how she has been described (the mini skirt she wanted to wear to Kimmy's recital), but the kind of trashy who believes they're classy.
Yeah, Jesus never said anything anti-gay, really. Which is why I have so little patience for those who justify their hate by using Christianity. I guess i just don't think highly of anything that promotes violence, then turns around and says "no that's wrong do this now and forget that I asked that".
I'm agnostic, and wasn't raised around religion at all, and although i will ever be swayed towards religion I have always respected the comfort people find in it. It's got it's problems, but I think most religious people out there are very respectful and kind human beings.
Oh yes i was thinking in terms of the timeline of the series, my mistake.
