Yeah, that’s beyond weird.

I somehow didn’t know this was a trigger for anyone until a few days ago. I mean, I’ve known mayonnaise is a controversial subject, but ketchup on a hot dog??

Some sorta Skoda

I think you hit the nail on the head. It attracts such strong opinions because the cost of entry is so low. The more involved the subject, the less opinions you get.

...Ploppers!!

Run a single line of white paint over the top. Now it’s not black, it’s zebra-striped.

I’m calling baloney. I’m not seeing a single poo being flung.

For what it’s worth, you weren’t wrong. Shame on you for no Swedish Racing Green though!

Calling me “gearhead” is like calling a Chinese person “Asia-face”!

I had a similar rug pulled out from under me. I decided to rebuild the engine in my 65 Mustang when it developed a rod knock, and my girlfriend at the time’s parents said I was welcome to use their driveway to do so. A week after I got the engine out they wanted it gone. Fortunately I had a friend whose driveway was

Holy crap, I think you win(?). What happened to your friend is absolutely terrible. Normally you hear those stories and it’s a matter of someone making a mistake, but man, that was truly just a freak accident. Does your buddy still work on cars at all?

Damn, that’s a good point I hadn’t considered before.

Because we don’t get to choose the ones we love.

I picked up a cheap European car. Probably enough said, but I like to hear myself type.

They didn’t touch on RAID controllers either. Problem is, you pick one, you’re locked into it. Migration means a new controller and new drives to move the data onto. If it’s cheap, it’s not likely to last long or survive a drive going bad, even in a redundant configuration. God forbid you try to do something fancy

This is how I felt about my 2008 Titan when I got it. It was simple, up to date enough, and was just plain fun to drive in places I couldn’t otherwise go. If it hadn’t been for an incoming child and a quadrupled commute on a shoestring budget, I’d probably have driven it for quite a few more years. Oh well, life

Right? That’s the part that doesn’t make sense to me. She must have been in the habit of just holding the handle down and just wanted to put in $10 or something.

Exactly. You get in a habit and it’s hard to break. Except for my first car which was in the middle in the back, all 4 of my other cars before my current one have been on the left side. This new one is on the right and even after a year of driving, I still pull in on the wrong side half the time. And I’m pretty a self

Oh even better, though it’s even more suspicious that they didn’t just fix it themselves. On the other hand they couldn’t even be bothered to put new tires on, so who knows.

It could be a coil pack that got blown to pieces by a launched spark plug too. I’m not too sure what the other common problems with these engines are or how worthwhile they are, but from what I’ve heard a properly motivated DIYer can get the spark plugs replaced (and fix any stripped threads) in an idle weekend with
