I think part of it is that after a couple of years the common failure points will not only be very well known but very well documented. Once you’ve torn into an engine a few times and understand its quirks you start trusting it more.

Yep, being sedans the resale value is already in the toilet. Stir an issue-prone transmission into the mix and you have a car people will pay you to take. The T6 XC90s are still the cheapest of that bunch, but will still cost you a few thousand.
This may help
I came looking for some mention of truck boat truck, I’m glad I didn’t leave disappointed.
No kidding, makes me appreciate the shitty drivers here. At least I don’t fear for my life. My car, occasionally, sure.
You and me both, friend. I find myself saying some pretty ridiculous shit because it was the first unbaked thing that came to mind. People really don’t have any patience. The upside is since I don’t speak much, when I do, people tend to listen (and more importantly, wait to hear it).
I had this exact thought yesterday while driving home. I saw a Mustang going past me and thought, man I want one of those. But it’d have to be a wagon!
So likely an issue with depreciated luxury cars as a whole, then.
I think you’re right, but humans are notoriously more expensive to repair. You’d think the cost savings on the human side would tip the scales in our favor.
The headlights on my ‘04 Volvo run about $1300 each. I can only imagine.
Throw in a big dose of South Africa and you have a hell of a cocktail
Ok, the Volvo wagon thing has me spinning. WTH?
I can’t find a single angle or surface on this thing that I like. It’s just so goddamn ugly. And not a “doing something different” sort of ugly, but rather a “trying to please everyone but pleasing no one” sort of ugly. That combined with all the problems Car & Driver’s been finding with their long term loaner,…
Tack on 150k miles and I still want it. Goddamn what a good looking car.
Right? The only reason it cost so little is because it’s simple as cheese and parts have gotta be cheap. It’ll be interesting to see how restorations of 2000s cars go.
Why? Just because. Makes me feel a little better about some of my life choices. If you like it, go with it.
Here’s your sack of parts lol
I’m seeing a lot of comments saying “thank goodness we have FCP” so I figured this would be a good time to air some grievances I have about them as well because it’s important to get them out there.
Right? What in the flying **** does the color of the paint have to do with navigation? I know you just said the same thing; I had to say it myself. It’s outrageous.
Oh nice, those seats are a must! My next car will be a wagon, probably either a Mercedes or Volvo. In the meantime I’m going to see how much life I can wring out of my 04 XC90.
