I can’t imagine what you’re used to working on if you think the W124 is a nightmare. I hope that you were able to find a nice 1950s car to replace the overly complex 300E.

I guess the main thing for me is that people look very closely at you in an SL, it’s what it was designed to do in many ways and I don’t dig that.
It’s frozen in time as one of the more expensive, fastest Benzes of a certain era and people still view it that way so I feel like I’m being judged in it.
The A124 is very

The great thing about the biodegradable wiring loom is that they’re either already repaired by now or the car will be showing a million warning lights.

If I can do maintenance and servicing on an M104 equipped W124, anyone can.

R129 owner here. I’d have one of these over my same year V8 R129 any day.
Not just because of the back seats, though they’re super-handy.

This analysis completely ignores the UK/Vauxhall input to GM’s European and wider global operations, particularly where race, premium or anything “halo” is concerned.
Tons of engineering and development work for GM globally was and still is done at UK sites.

You want cup holders, forget the W124.
I’ve tried several hairbrained schemes to incorporate cupholders but they just don’t fit.
Back then people weren’t expected to drink coffee in cars, they were expected to smoke. My 300CE-24 coupe has four ashtrays.

There could be truth in the “All Benzes are better built than the previous generation” as long as you’re talking about a model that existed before about 1996. Nobody would question the S Klasse once it recovered from the W140 debacle but they’re expensive to look after properly. The W212 E Klasse is a brilliantly made

Is yours a V8?
Looks great in silver, mine is dark blue with dark blue leather, very gloomy.

I’m a W124 man and I would have agreed with this had I not accidentally bought a ‘97 W210 E320. It’s a smidge under 200k miles just now and running brilliantly. It’s probably the most economical car I have, too.
I bought it for £600 two years ago and have been driving it in preference to the W124s to try and squeeze

So the 1er was shipped while it was two years old, maybe still had a year or two of finance outstanding?

Yeah, I HPI’d it.
Looks like the first keeper bought the car on finance and that’s outstanding to some extent. The UK reg history shows only one keeper and the export stuff was never done.
I was trying to piece some of the history together from the reg date and the dates it’s been offered for sale and the stuff the
