@jesster1228: Yep, pretty sure you're right, actually. No real sense of scale in that picture, but looking at it again it sure does seem like the ruins of Avalon.

I'm convinced that there'll never be a motorcycle version of this post, because the Vincent Black Shadow has already won.

@FromaBuick6: The best thing was, at any given time, one half (but never both halves simultaneously) of the Triumph Spitfire's name was accurate!

@Lahjik: Oh, Christ, how could I choose between Sonoramic Commando and... well, okay, I think "Sonoramic Commando" has it, actually.

@akirachan: And Violet. Well, actually, that's the name of my car as well, but that was my own doing.

@Wolfy Kovac: Yeah, the decals do have to go. I'm basing my 'acceptable but not nice price' assertion on the rust we get up this way - probably slightly, but not markedly, worse than yours.

@CID_Vicious: I haven't got a turbo either, and I know the handling of those old Benzes can be surprising. Raw speed they may lack, but they can make up for it in capable hands. (Volvos tend to be the same way, though not quite to the same extreme.)

@CJinSD: Yeah, anything with a manual gearbox is acceptable anyway. And the way I drive my 244 - with the same engine/automatic gearbox and 205k on the clock - isn't far off from that.

@CJinSD: I would definitely drive a green-with-white first-generation S. I respect the cars for what they are, at least the classic three-door - not so much the Clubman, and the Maxi-looking new SUV will be atrocious.

@CahbonFiabah: I'm goin' by the hubcap and the outline of the headlight/turn signal lens in the remaining (left) front quarter panel.

@jalopnikfan: I'm saying seventh-generation (2001-'05) Civic sedan.

@Type R: Heh! One other point is ball joints - I don't know why, or whether it's just a typical beater-car thing, but the '93 LX he had before had one fail on him without much warning, and his '91 EX has similar fender damage from a previous owner.

@CJinSD: "The GTI of SUVs" shouldn't exist, anyway. Small SUVs are for OAPs who have trouble climbing down and absolutely no one else, in my opinion.

We have four of 'em at the moment in our upright 37-gallon, and yes, they do move around quite a bit when they're awake. The best part is watching them slide their way to the top, encounter the current from the filter, and let go to "migrate" somewhere new... they bounce gently off the corners for a bit before letting

@nataku8_e30: Its sole salvation is being the only four-door convertible currently on sale... but even this is only useful if you have three particularly-irreverent friends willing to don masks, plus a fourth to stand out of sight with a cap gun... and if the Jeep is white.

It's hard to say whether this is a Nice Price.

Suddenly, "HOLY SHIT AWESOME" has become "DO NOT WANT".
