I'm honestly not sure my 244 isn't genuinely more attractive.

When you put it that way, at least it seems believable.

@mkbruin: I always thought the Rainier/Bravada were the same, at least, and the 9-7x shared some of those panels. Of course, it could also be a LeBaron/TC situation where the effort of restyling made it look nearly identical.

@Whitetrashsteve: Well, into the styling, at least, until... when, really? I'd say the W platform was always unexceptional, but was competent until the FWD Impala lasted more than a couple of years (and even that car desperately needed the optional 3.8).

@ShantJ: Neither did the first-generation Aveo, but that didn't make it a remotely attractive car. You're saying that herpes is better than syphilis.

@therealkroysc: Yep, I explained this entire horrible saga to a friend of mine (who's somewhat of a Honda fan, though only of their older cars, and whose family once had "the most unreliable truck ever", a Rodeo) the other day after finding a several-hundred-dollar nothing-wrong-with-it Oasis on Craigslist. @KAR120C: I wish New Hampshire would do that, what with having lost my front plate and not overly wanting new plates (which I ended up with anyway)...

@LoganSix: That, and to keep it proportional, New Hampshirites would have to have a piece of aluminium sticking up like a CB antenna...

@William Hadley: The two versions William refers to are possibly the two locations of the 'old man' - either in the center of an ordinary six- or seven-number plate, or to the right of a rare plate with fewer numbers or vanity plate - or possibly the old and new designs.

@blitzcat: I believe it's 'driver out for the season, car out for the race' - they were, and this was a new race.

@JohnMytton: You could certainly write "227" in a suitably jagged typeface. I approve. I might be able to get away with "141", but... okay, not really.

@ShantJ: That's no ES, it's an LS400.

@Brydagr8: It's definitely true for '98-'00 AWD Volvos - even different sizes front/rear.

I always figured that since the folks who drive such vehicles likely have zero mechanical inclination, they'd have AAA or something similar and just call them up and bitch, then have someone else change the tire for 'em.

@CJinSD: "Owners"? Maybe the ones you keep seeing are stolen. That'd do it.

"Up On The Street", here we come.

@JDisnidiet: At least you could hear them coming.
