@themeasles (now with MSPaint Star): You've been heart-clicked as well! Good old AW70/71/72. It doesn't really accomplish anything that putting your foot down harder (and engaging the kickdown) doesn't, but it makes you feel better.

@Jim-Bob- Living in Project House Hell: Also a good point. I guess I figure that anyone who buys a new car with a stick shift probably did so for a reason - namely that they already knew how to drive it.

@someoneelse2010: They are for that, but they're barely indented, which limits their usability (still easy to knock over). The 240, at least, had the vanity mirror beside the 'cupholder' as well, rather than behind the sun visor; that somewhat limits the back of the door's usefulness as a meal tray, I think.

@Scandinavian Flick: I can't lock in my keys either. Well, I could if I tossed 'em into the car through a passenger door, but that's it.

You don't take the air conditioning out of a black truck with power to spare, and you don't take the heater, full stop.

@tintern: Through a couch...?

@solomonrex: Man, until that last line, you were right.

@Jordan Golson: Ahh yep, I see it now. I understand the reasoning behind a 4WD vehicle with good clearance, as I said - but that's what the Jeep's for, if you take it easy. I just don't understand modern SUVs in general, though.

@mytdawg: I ended up with a half-dozen free '80s BMW gauge clusters, mostly from E30s. The idea of oil-change meters and brake-lining lights terrifies me - isn't the latter supposed to be a simple squealing noise?

@Bo Darville: That's all the valid points I needed - heat on my face is irritating after a while. I usually turn the inboard (right) one toward my torso, because the left one's more important. I like having the window just barely open for fresh air, but it makes it cold for my left hand; sometimes I'll wear just one

Radial tires. Dome lights. Power locks (obviously with manual override). 3.5mm input jacks. Heated seats, though I'd like them to be cooled as well; cooled seats could easily be replaced with a 'junk vent' in the floorboard, though.

@Jim-Bob- Living in Project House Hell: Ahh, but if you want reliable transportation with a warranty, you buy the same car... two years old, certified pre-owned. You're right that a lot of cheap/appliancy cars get beaten on, though.

@Ben Wojdyla: I'm amused that one commenter wrote "When these two Cobalt and Corolla) were released, most economy cars came with a four-speed anyways." Two years ago? Really? Huh. News to me.

@facelvega: Toss the Mini in alongside the Golf/Impreza/3 as well - good car, until BMW screws with it again, but more expensive than most in its size class.

@onebeggar: How many children could you fit in that ashtray? Most aren't large enough even for one child, in my experience.

@Ollie: My signature on TurboBricks is a quote from another member "Do you have a penis? If not, and instead you have a pussy, install a muffler. Men don't run mufflers. You can't spell muffler without muff."

@nickneo: I dunno, I wouldn't mind finding a Vibe in the Pick'n'Pull in a few years and pulling out that built-in inverter. The lighter-socket one I have has a tendency to wriggle itself loose, and it's frankly not very good. I only occasionally use it to run my laptop (for tunes/dashcam recording) though, so it's not

@Bo Darville: Why d'you want a heated wheel? Don't the heater vents swivel far enough to be aimed at your hands? Heated seats, though, I'm with you on those.
