That plastic cladding is horrible. Why won’t that fad die?

But that’s... how YouTube works.
Surprise! Here’s a car payment. :)
These idiots that buy houses next to airports, railroad tracks, farms and proceed to complain about noise, noise and smells...
I only get algorithm notifications (i.e. what Facebook thinks I want). But they deleted the ability to set custom keyword notifications, at least in both my web and app instances. YMMV, Facebook often uses test markets, so different people see different functionality.
Facebook Marketplace has rapidly become the dominate private party sale platform, but it’s not without its faults. For one, it’s impossible to exclude keywords from the search, there’s no notification function (there used to be, but they removed it), and there’s no method to refine subcategories (i.e. manual…
This awful crossover trend reminds me of the “Trash of the Titans” Simpsons episode where at the end, Ray Patterson says to the town folk “Oh gosh. You know, I’m not much on speeches, but it’s so gratifying to... leave you wallowing in the mess you’ve made. You’re screwed, thank you, bye.”
Because that is EXACTLY what…
Cars are supposed to have an exhaust system?
I’m not sold yet on the styling, but this is still prototype 1 and they have a long way to go before this is production-ready.
That said, the stainless steel body interests me as a resident of the northeast where road salt is used as a method for highway department workers to milk overtime. I tend to keep my vehicles,…
The existing production lines are already stressed to/at capacity. Their paint booth has been a major bottleneck for them. Passing the air quality permitting process in norcal and funding another paintbooth is prohibitively difficult, time consuming and expensive.
I work in manufacturing in another industry, and we are…
I personally don’t like screens in cars. I prefer analog gauges, buttons, and switches. Screen technologies also age very poorly, so unless you lease or trade in your car every 3-5 years, it becomes heavily outdated at a rapid pace. Take a look at some of the touchscreens in the mid aughts, they look like they’re…
If it truly is the same stuff used on Starship, then it’s a proprietary custom spec variant derived from cold worked 301.
It could also be that Elon is cleverly using Tesla as a “customer” of SpaceX to pay for the enormous capital expensive of mass producing and forming custom spec 301 sheets. Perhaps it doesn’t matter…
Extremely. It’s also cryo formed (very cold rolled) austenitic stainless, which is not the same stainless sheet you would buy from your typical metal supplier or mill. There are also almost certainly special welding procedures associated with it as to not ruin the grain structure or cause heat deformation. This will…
Good luck getting Ram owners to buy this, this thing doesn’t have mirrors let alone giant tow mirrors.
Plastic wheel arch cladding? Check.
Lifted springs for boomer knee pain? Check.
Giant Tesla knockoff screen? Check
Accidental use of Photoshop “Smudge” tool on taillights? Check
Four doors? Check
Yep. It’s Mustang time!
Honestly though, you can’t blame Ford for building a focus group tailored car. This is what people want…
The range is its greatest asset, IMO. Being able to do 500+ miles far from civilization without refuel plus throw in a few aux tanks absolutely crushes the competition sold in the USA.
But no manual and no two door kills it. I could never justify spending at that price point on a four door automatic.
I will never own a car with volume control performed via a touch screen slider or motion control. It’s vile.
The unfortunate reality is that most people don’t want to order a car online, they want to wander around a lot, see it, drive it, smell it. The dealership experience sucks, but it’s still society’s norm. I don’t see Tesla going truly mainstream like Volkswagen and Chevy until they go down the path of franchise…
I’m so glad I live in a mid size city and don’t even need adaptive cruise control because regular cruise control works just fine.
Jason owns all of the same T-shirts as me. He hits those Target racks.
