I couldn't help but wonder throughout the article. Is that plush R2 supposed to be like a dirty Tattoine version or did it get so dark from being a kid's toy?

I feel like it's underpowered and I've driven one. I have an S2000 and with an extra 40 hp (and 100 lbs of weight), even I feel it could use a little more power sometimes. And that car is notorious for having owners defend it as being adequate.

Because the S2000/F20 came before any of the K motors.
