It’s in the media village, so they clearly did their research and discovered zero is the number of condoms most reporters will need.

Modern ejection seats a dubbed “0-0" ejection seats, they work at zero altitude and from a standstill

Actually modern ejection seats are rated for zero altitude, so they can be used during a landing or take off accident.

Fighter pilot here. Not anymore. They’re capable of working at zero airspeed, zero altitude. They’re a little big for an F-1 car though. You would add at least 50% to the height and a ton of weight and structure and other features to make it possible.

Actually a lot have zero zero ejection seats, where they can pretty much eject at an altitude.

Modern ejection seats are 0/0 - operable at zero airspeed and zero altitude. That said, it’s nothing something you WANT to ever do...decent odds of a broken back.

Oh, with enough thrust, I’m sure you could get the driver up to a minimum safe altitude.

Nope, no way to make birds racist.

Depends on the seat. Most are “Zero zero” seats now. Zero altitude, zero airspeed for the ejection envelope. You eject during a high rate of descent, now you might exceed the ejection seat’s capabilities, or you need more altitude below you.

Don’t do it! It’s a huge time sink! Then you get addicted...

Nope. for a long time “Zero/Zero” ejector seats have been available, which work at zero altitude and zero speed. The ACES II seat fitted to lots of USAF jet will even work if the plane is inverted, providing it’s more than 140ft above the ground.

Not really. It’s been all about zero-zero (safe at 0 altitude/0 airspeed) for a few decades, now.

Actually, a lot of modern aircraft are fitted with what’s known as 0/0 (zero/zero) ejection seats. They are called this because they operate safely at zero altitude and zero airspeed.

Haha. Just saw all the replies. Guess I’m not the only know-it-all who watches too much YouTube.

Modern ejection seats are designed for “zero zero” operation. Zero altitude, and zero airspeed.

They may die yeah, but then again, maybe not!

Neo fighting the Agent Smiths while spinning round some kinda pole immediately springs to mind!

Actually zero/zero ejection seats do exist.

Most E seats are zero speed, zero altitude.
