Please no. We don’t need any more shows ripping off Back to Reality. Red Dwarf did it right and I don’t need other people copying it. I dropped BTVS for that reason, I’m not above dropping Dr. Who for it.

Burnham is Trek’s worst example of failing upwards; she has no right to that Captain’s chair for her continuous insubordination, and constant undermining of others. But she’s the Main Character in a show that runs on pure melodramatic pay-off and no setup ... so of course we instead have side characters tearfully…

If they aren’t Michael Burnham, the show doesn’t care about them. My favorite S1 episode (ironically) was when they finally took the time to give a bridge crew member some backstory just so you might care when they killed her off later in that same episode.
