False equivalencies all over the place in this thread. Neither football or boxing is safe. Arguing that one is safer based on a comparison to the other is pointless.
Boxing’s ultimate goal is in fact to deliver a brain injury to the opponent, euphemistically called a “knockout”. Adding thick, padded boxing gloves…
When we send teams to London we don’t send the best. We send panthers, we send Bucs. And some, I assume are good players.
That is the only rule in football I love.
6'5" Bruins fan here. I second your bloody but reasonable solution.
First they came for Massholes' knees and I did nothing because fuck Massholes.
As a 6'7 man, I suggest we burn them all at the stake, then parade their charred corpses infront of the younger generation to ensure the message is received.
How the hell does anyone in the middle of a row get up and use the restroom without the entire aisle having to vacate for them? This is infuriating to even look at.
New corporate naming partner: Spirit Airlines Arena.
Hey, they just wanted to be able to say “Standing Room Only” for every game.
on the one hand: awful, late-capitalist hellscape.
No. I mean, football is plenty hazardous enough to cause people to reasonably wonder whether it should exist, but it is far less dangerous than boxing, you don’t win by giving someone a severe brain injury, and I don’t think in 50 years people will think it’s beyond comprehension that it existed.
At what point do we just say boxing shouldn’t be a thing anymore? I wonder if in 50 years people will look back in disbelief that this sport even existed in the 21st century.
Doctors don’t prescribe cigarettes. Nobody is getting hooked on cigarettes because that carton of Marlboro Reds they were sent home with following surgery was just too good to stop using.
So a 45 year old dude in the front office had a 27 year old member of the team paying for drugs which he muled for the two. What is the over/under on employees in the Angels organization who knew this or heard rumors of this? 30? 40?
But nice to hear him admit, even indirectly, how much he loves traveling.
They were in Japan. You can’t criticize another country if you’re in a similar time zone?
The Rockets were in Japan.
The NBA says “inappropriately.” I say this feels rather calculated. The Rockets block the question, the NBA gets to say it was done incorrectly and apologize. However, the end result is the same: the question is never answered and one of the NBA’s biggest stars gets to avoid navigating the geopolitical minefield, thus…
Harden always getting bailed out by the refs.
