When this show starts to slow down they should jump to the current day, where the kids are now in the 40s parenting their own crazy kids running into monsters and aliens and stuff.

Netflix obviously has a strategy with these announcements. Everyone wondering why it took so long... they waited till the buzz was gone so they could make a splashy headline, and remind the people under a rock this show still exists and they should watch it.
