Japan doesn’t have a track record for manufacturing airplanes—but now its first ever domestic passenger jet has finally taken its maiden test flight.

Developed in Japan, Manufactured in NC. I guess the manufactured part is important, though.

Does Hondajet not count?

I spent a year in Japan working on the landing gear certification for this airplane and was able to travel to Nagoya to the Mitsubishi plant one day. If the final product is like the mock-up most everyone will like it. I’m 6’4” and there was standing headroom and plenty of room for my knees.

And they keep producing new ones too :)
