TomB: “Belichick, please coordinate! I am not programmed to respond in that area!”

Another reminder that Tom Brady is football Tom Cruise.

That actually is how contract law generally works. You can’t be aware of a purported breach, hip pocket it, have the other party continue performance on the contract, and then when you decide the contract is no longer convenient say “Well, actually you breached the contract before, so now it is void.”  In other words,

In very limited scenarios it makes sense. If you’re inside the five yard line and on one of the hashes, you’re basically having to kick sideways. In that case, backing it up a bit to make the angle less severe makes sense. It did not make sense in this situation.

Do you think bank robbers are unaware that robbing banks will lead to getting shot and going to jail? Sounds like that’s not too effective either.

That’s huge progress. I was expecting they’d use a word that begins with the letter N.

If anyone in any other industry tweeted this irresponsibly they’d... umm... still be president.

I’m listening to the Boston radio pregame show, and the station employees refuse to say “Antonio Brown.” They’ll say. “the guy who was recently released by the Patriots” or “The former Patriot” or even better, “the guy who was here last week.”

It was up to them to decide whether or not to enforce, but it’s a little bit suspect they decided it was fine to let him play, but then to try to retroactively say the same thing that was fine now voids his guarantees.

So here’s what happened: The Patriots signed Brown. Then sexual assault allegations against Brown came out. The Patriots, aware of those allegations, still activated Brown and played him. Then a second sexual misconduct allegation came out in that SI article, and Brown sent threatening texts to the person who made the

True, but he’s not wrong that Ben was held to a different standard and got off easy.

He seems to think it’s everyone’s fault but his own that this happened to him. NFL owners didn’t jack off on a woman without her consent*, NFL owners didn’t roll up on an artist painting a mural wearing nothing but a washcloth over their hog*. Take accountability.

Yeah. Contrast that with the likely response if members of the team had been verbally and physically assaulted on the way out of the stadium. Pretty sure that this is a direct transcript of the proceedings:

Iowa officials told band members to “be careful what you post on social media.”

Broken ribs are not jostling around. Attacking a world class baton twirler is not boys will be boys. Having a university say they are handling it when they aren’t is borderline malfeasance. We all know they will never be able to identify “a few people with any power” but they should take steps to protect these

I believe what he’s saying is that the accounts the band people gave were bad, but it makes it look even worse when you compare the specific details given (“This person did X to me”) with how vague the response from the school was (“Something bad may have happened to someone, which, if true, is very unfortunate”).

Are we sure this wasn't the Fox News hot mic?

Sounds like Columbo, but it’s really 3 humanities professors who got suckered into being on the committee. I’m sure their combined expertise in Renaissance poetry, critical theories of ethnicity, and semiotics will get to the bottom of this quickly and efficiently.
